Winter time in Stilbaai is a very special time…
The rain is always welcome as are the bright and clear days. There are also misty mornings and even days when the mist covers the area for a whole day. These days make for beautiful photos.

Uiteindelik het die jaarlikse Kersfees in Julie in Stilbaai aangebreek en terwyl daar sommer baie spesiale aanbiedings by verskeie besighede en instansies is, vind daar ook heelwat aktiwiteite plaas.

Met lekker musiek, kersliggies, baie stalletjies wat heerlike kos en ander snuisterye verkoop, Kersvader wat geskenkies vir die kinders bring (7nm) en ‘n wynproe by Stilbaai Kelders, is dit beslis iets om nie te mis nie. Boonop gaan dit verseker weer gedurende die aand ‘sneeu’…

– Loer Dinsdag van 10:00 af ook by Bay Linen Stilbaai in en kyk na die mooi kunswerke wat die kwilters hier uitstal.
– Moenie Woensdagaand se Kerrie & Sjerrie by Stilbaai Toerisme / Stilbaai Tourism (5 – 8 nm.) mis nie. Ontmoet Stilbaai se eie kokkedoorfinalis en hoor hoe hy kerrie maak!
– Speel Woensdag vanaf 1:30 nm. rolbal by Stilbaai Rolbalklub – almal welkom!
– Gaan kuier by Oudewerfskloof Olive Farm en proe hul olywe en ander produkte (Woensdag van 10 vm tot 3 nm.)
– Bespreek vir Steve Ashley se vertoning Donderdagaand by The Stables Eatery & Bar. Musiek van die 60’s, 70’s en 80’s.
– Vrydagaand is dit STRAATMARK!

Dit is dalk winter in Stilbaai, maar dié week is dit ‘n spesiale winterweek!
Morris Point, Stilbaai
Just look at this beautiful photo of Morris Point. The photo was taken and posted by The Atlantic Drone.
Did you know that you can walk from the jetti (close to the corner of Versveld Street and Main Road West) on a paved walkway along the Goukou River all the way to the area of the outdoor gym (just off Waterkant Street opposite the river mouth)? There you can get onto the beach towards the harbour (walk on the beach at low-tide or next to the beach in Skuitpad Road) and then you can walk all the way next to the ocean around Morris Point. The green area on the photo is Skulpiesbaai Nature Reserve.
If you want, you can then walk along the coast all the way to Jongensfontein (between 9 and 10 kilometres) and then even to the Blombosch Nature Reserve (quite a challenging hike of about 16 kilometres)!
It is beautiful and quite an adventure…
It is winter and that time of the year when the aloes, the ‘blombos‘ and the bitou plants are flowering in the Stilbaai area.
Recent rains resulted in the area being beautifully green while the fields of the farms where farmers have planted, are adding to the bright colour.
Bronwyn Iris Maxine took this special photo on the hiking trail in the Skulpiesbaai Nature Reserve where the white flowers of the ‘blombos‘ are especially pretty.
The white blombos (Metalasia muricata) has flat-topped compound heads with units of smaller flower heads. It can be found along the coastal areas and flowers from May to September while the Yellow Blombos (Matalasia luteola), an erect, multi-branched shrub with twisted leaves, is rare and endemic to Stilbaai. It flowers in July and August.
Experience the beauty of the area and go for a hike or even a long walk along the beach or in the various nature reserves.
