Today the schools close for the first break of 2016 and as usual, Stilbaai and Jongensfontein will welcome its visitors with open arms.
It looks like the weather will play along with a few ‘cooler’ days inbetween, but we are sure to see more of the great weather we’ve experienced recently in the area.
There are quite a few activities planned for the next two weeks. The Estuary Life Fashion Week is still on until Monday (March 21st) at this lifestyle boutique (behind SPAR) and ladies are welcome to visit and experience this unique view-order-buy ‘adventure’…
Surf4Life takes place on Saturday (March 19th) at Die Steentjie and will cater for novice divisions as well as Junior, Open and Ladies.
The popular Kleinbergskloof’s seasonal restaurant opens on Sunday (March 20th) and is open every day until April 3rd (they will be closed on Good Friday, March 25th) and a ‘Father and Son’ morning with the ‘Living Balls’ are being planned to take place on Monday morning at 10:00 at the Melkhoutfontein Community Hall.
There is a Craft Beer & Wine Tasting Festival on March 21st and 22nd from 17:00 at the Stilbaai Community Hall. R50 get you in and you will receive 10 tasting tickets. More tickets – and food – are available.
If you like markets, you’ll be happy to know that Die Brug Mark will be open on March 19th, 21st, 24th to 26th as well as on March 28th while the Jongensfontein Art and Craft Market will take place on Saturday, March 26th. There are quite a few things planned for this Saturday:
The Amana Properties Stilbaai Mountain Bike Challenge will take place from Julie-se-Baai (the camping terrain just before you enter Stilbaai and caters for cyclists from 8. There are three different distances (16km, 36km and 65km) and the route will take riders through the most scenic terrain Stilbaai has to offer. You will still have some energy left to watch and be entertained by the teams in their 4×4 vehicles at Droëvlakte as they compete in the Extreme 4×4 Challenge or if a ‘plattelandse’ bazaar is more to your liking, do not miss the Huis Stilbaai Bazaar at the Community Hall!
If you’re into fishing, why not try your hand at some Bass Fishing at the Botterkloof Resort? Of if you’re an adventurous golfer, participate in the Night Golf event at the Stilbaai Golf Club in aid of Bertie Barnard Primary School!
And for those who are looking for a great night out, book your ticket for the Robin Auld Performance at Press Room Cafe!
Having a look at what’s happening early in April – Jagersbosch is hosting a Maandjie Braai on April 1st while their monthly market will again take place on Saturday (April 2nd) at the Waenhuis.
Then there is of course all Stilbaai’s great shops and restaurants and great places to visit or explore the area by driving around or take the bicycle; go for spa or beauty treatments; there’s lots of water sport (the water might still be ‘warm’ enough!) or go for a cheese and wine tasting or gin tasting or tackle the great hiking trails etc etc.
Visit the ACTIVITIES section for more ‘to-do’ ideas – go to EVENTS for more information and contact detail.
Enjoy your holiday in Stilbaai and Jongensfontein!
