July 2016 – It is winter in Stilbaai – and the colder weather is perfect for the first ‘Christmas in July‘ evening planned for this coming Friday (15 July).
The temperature regularly dips to below 20°C – today (Monday, 11 July) is an exception as a high of 27°C might see sun bathers and even swimmers enjoying the unusual hot weather! This is no reason to stay at home though as it is ideal for some Christmas in July festivities.
On Friday afternoon, everyone is invited to visit Voortrekker Street when businesses and shops will stay open for longer while a variety of stalls will be selling lots of food including soups, pancakes, hamburgers and other delicious treats while you can ‘shop’ for gifts or something for yourself or souvenirs at the street market. There will be arts and crafts and gifts and things you did not even know you were looking for!
Lilliput Café, the restaurant in the Duine Mall, will do a three course Christmas Dinner (make sure you have booked) and lights, music and a festive street market atmosphere will welcome everyone.
Businesses that are not situated in Voortrekker Street will join in the festivities during the weekend and the ‘Christmas in July’ theme will be seen right across the town in various shops and outlets. And with the year already past the halfway mark and Spring and Summer on its way, the real ‘Christmas in December’ will be here before we even know it – a typical South African summer holiday on the beach…
There are still stalls available for Friday. Contact Johannie Vermeulen (Tel: 028 754 1655) or Louise Christie (083 973 5772) to book a stand.
So, take out the scarves, put on the gloves, shake the piggy bank and make sure to be at the Stilbaai Christmas in July this Friday from 17:00 to 21:00.
